This album is a testimony of Lydie (Waï) Solomon’s incursion into the jazz world. She unveils compositions of her own, with a jazz-latin flavor and classical influences, performed as a singer.
This recording is also the result of a cultural osmosis with jazz legends John Betsch on drums and Darryl Hall on bass, the piano being held by Lydie’s partner Thierry Lier.
This CD was well received by the French media: Jazz Hot, KTO TV, Radio Notre Dame, Sud Ouest.
This album includes a second CD, recorded a few months after Lydie’s First Prize at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (CNSMDP), during a live performance in Meudon, France, of the Concerto in G by Maurice Ravel, which underlines how jazz influenced his music.
This second CD ends with Lydie’s encore of this concert, La puerta del vino by Claude Debussy, an example of Debussy’s attraction for Spanish music.
